Home Stretch!

Otherwise known as eight down, and one to go!

Diagonal Cross Rib Socks using Knitpicks Essentail, in Fawn. I still love this yarn:

These are Waving Lace Socks in Lorna's Laces, Shepherd Sock, Aqua:

This pattern had it in for me, and demanded that I use the yarn it called for to do it. In other words, my brain can't put two and two together to come up with socks:

One more to go from The Favorite Socks Book. I have the damn things almost done, but guess who ran out of !@#$%^$@# yarn, ordered more, found out it was on backorder and only got it shipped from the warehouse to me TODAY.....

I have one done. Grandma's getting it in a box with a paper cutout of the other one. I think she'll let it slide! Especially when I tell her that my friend's new baby got a Christmas Dress out of the rest of it:

Knitty gave me a great 11th hour idea for another pair of socks for another person--the Lighthouse Gansey Socks by Anne Hanson of Knitspot Patterns

http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter07/PATTlgs.html

Done in Gedfria Fashion Trend Sportivo, 5763 (no colorway name)--I never like barber poles on the ball, but the look SO COOL when you knit 'em up:

I've had a good time making all of this stuff for people. I like to make things, and it's even better when the things I give make SMILES. It's all good!

If anyone reads this blog (let me know if you do--even if you happen to be just passing by!) I hope that you have a safe, happy and peaceful Holiday, whatever that holiday happens to be.

Have a Merry Christmas! Love the Knittah, and the Dog!

I've marked one off of my list.

You know, that list you make in your head of the things you want to do before you die.

Skydiving is not on that list.

Tattoos and piercings are not on that list.

There are some things that I'm waiting to do, like

• Meet a New York Yankee. Past or Present. Would be nice.

• Fit into clothes that have a single digit size. Would also be nice, Need to stop eating. Not so nice.

So far, I've got a few things on that list taken care of:

• I've met KISS (aka the Hottest Band in the Land). Also got to see them play in makeup (my first show was in 1983)

• I got to see the NY Rangers win a Stanley Cup. I'll have to see if I can last 30 years to see them win another one.

I got another one taken care of last Friday night.

• I saw Sly and the Family Stone. Sly. And the Family. Stone.

All I have to say is, "I want to THANK YOU..."

peace!

Chugging Along....

Six down, three to go!

The Retro Rib Sock done in Knitpicks Essential in Gulfstream

I get fascinated by minutia--kinda like when Cindy Brady was on the kiddie gameshow and got mesmerized by he red camera light. I could stare at these socks for hours. I'll probably make myself a pair when the Christmas crunch is over.

After the scarf, tea cozy, and christmas balls (those are a big IF) get done. Then a sweater for myself, or two for that matter. Then the shawl that I'm planning for my brother's wedding August. And baby gifts, birthday gifts...

Maybe I'll just hold that thought about the socks. This guy over here is still waiting for his cable knit sweater. He'll have to get in line:

It will be February 1st soon enough. That's when the gifties stop. For awhile. Never getting those socks done.......

This is...

...one of the saddest days ever. News at 11.

Aggravatvion, Thy name is....

....Anniversay Lace. My brain hurts:

Done in Fearless Fibers Midnight Passion. Priiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiity...you can see the purple better in this picture:

I don't know whay, but the second sock just didn't want to get done--I had to rip it back at least four times. The first THREE
(I made a pair of these in blue earlier) went without incident. As I said, brain hurt. But I got really good at ripping back yo's.

Shiny Object! Here's a wet dog--raining here today in Queens:

Five down, four to go!

Four down, five to go

I hate it when Life (tm) gets in the way of my knitting!

Halfway done (I have the fifth pair of socks almost done--working the toe of the 2nd sock now):

In order.......

Embossed Leaves Socks in Lime & Violet, "The Old Magician" colorway

These were a really quick knit, and I'm developing one hell of an appreciation for the yarns that Miss Violet makes!

Numbah two from this past month--

Diagonal Cross-Rib Sock in Knit Picks Essential Solid, "Gulfstream" color

These were kinda quick--what I will say about them that when I made mistakes on this pattern, they were very easy to see and to fix.

Working on another pair of Anniversary Lace socks--for some reason, I've been a bonehead for the second sock, and must have ripped out parts of it at LEAST three or four times--finally working through the second toe--those pictures should be up soon!

Back to work!

Another month older, and whaddaya get?

Two pairs of socks (5 down, three to go), no World Series, no Joe Torre (a pox on Randy Levine), my niece turning NINE (dammity damn damn ) and washed yarn for St. Brigid.

I'm doin' it. As soon as the yarn dries. DEEP BREATH!!

When I get the courage, I have to put up the sock pictures.

Did I mention the pox on Randy Levine?

Why am I not surprised?

You're The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy!

by Douglas Adams

Considered by many to be one of the funniest people around, you are
quite an entertainer. You've also traveled to the far reaches of what you deem possible,
often confused and unsure of yourself. Life continues to jostle you around like a marble,
but it's shown you so much of the world that you don't care. Wacky adventures continue to
lie ahead. Your favorite number is 42.

Take the Book Quiz
at the Blue Pyramid.

Damn RIGHT it's 42....Mariano Rivera is #42......DAMN RIGHT!!!!

Before I forget....

This will only make sense to said baseball fans of the East Coast of the United States that have a preference for the color red, or a preference for navy blue....

SSSSSSSSSWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like navy blue, myself!!

If I had a caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaable.........

AKA Three Down, Five to Go

Done! I don't know why it feels like I've been knitting these forever, because I know I haven't--wait I do know--baby gifts got in the way. More baby gifts will continue to get in the way. Babymama gifts will get in the way! Didn't I say I was gonna tone down the holiday knitting last year? I know I did...

That being said, the Cable Rib Sock:

here's a detail:

Done in Knitpicks Essential Sock Yarn, Fawn color--these are for one of male friends--fortunately for me the majority of said xy chromesome friends that I have are not builts like Yeti, and have small xy chromesome feet. Said feet are similar in size to my big boat feet--no sneaking of measurements necessary! The yarn is surprisingly good--at least I like it. Good man-sock yarn to be sure--

Time for the next pair--Christmas is HOW many days away?

MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSE

One of my favorite pitchers--evah--Mike Mussina, is falling apart. Never seen him like this, and it scares me a little.

Time for a Moose Call:

MMMMMMMMMMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Two Down, Six to go......

Uptown Boot Sock for the knit-a-long. This is actually the second one I've made--I like this sock very much!

The yarn is Lime & Violet in Leandre the Escapologist--if you really look at the yarn, it's doing some neat, painterly stuff:

I don't think I'll ever get tired of varigated yarn--that being said, the Cable Rib Sock is next on my list:

in Knitpicks Essential Solid, Fawn color. It's a man sock, and the man who's getting it is not the varigated colorway sort. Besides, my brain needs a color reset.

Hah!

Valerie

Which Princess Bride Character are You?
this quiz was made by mysti

Make 'em PAY!!

Gonna hit A-Rod because your players get easily distracted by shiny objects? Fine. Be that way. See how many bigshots are so willing to come up in the 7th inning, which also happens to be Roger Clemens' l ast inning of the night. And he has a nice, big lead.

F@#$#@$%^%$ jerks. Serves you right!

Knitting Along

Ladies and gentlemen, the reason for this blog is not my desire to be chatty (I'm about as chatty as a Cigar Store Indian), but to join Knit-a-longs--I have a laundry list of laundry to knit, and need a little motivation to get it all done!

This is for a book that I bough probably about a year ago, Favorite Socks--I love this book, and now that there is a KAL to go along with it.......Christmas ho!! One pair down, seven to go......

Antique Lace Socks

Next on the hit parade? Uptown Boot Socks:

Socks are good.

That is all.

Friday the 13th....

....and what a fine day it is!

Why not pick now to start this here thing. I'm going to use this blog for knit-a-longs, for conversation, and for whatever else--friends maybe? A place where the folks can meet and stick tongues out at each other. Maybe--who the hell knows-I have to start posting stuff to get that going, and the best laid plans of Mice and Men.... you know the rest. The Knittah will get it together. The Dog....well as long as I leave something on the couch for him to lay on (yarn, a pattern, needles, he doesn't really care), he's OK with anything.

Spellcheck will need to happen here!

The First of Many

I need to see something on this pageother than blankness. Projects will go here. Kknitalongs will happen here. Bring on the knit-on!
